Project Background

As part of our commitment to providing passive recreation opportunities to our growing community, we are undertaking landscape improvements at Bayview Park to improve access and enjoyment of the new swim site.

The $280,000 project, proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with the City of Canada Bay includes:

  • New accessible parking spots
  • Accessible pedestrian links from the parking spots to the existing path network in the park
  • Upgrading of existing picnic shelters and tables
  • Replacement of the existing ferry shelter in the park with an accessible shelter and accessible furniture to improve safety, open views and inclusivity
  • New plantings and landscaping
  • Upgrading of rubbish bins
  • Upgrading of existing park entry signage

Based on recent finished community consultation, Council has made the following changes:

  • 90-degree car parking – additional 5 normal car parking spots
  • New bike barriers to slow cyclists
  • New bike racks
  • Warning signage to be installed next to existing heritage wall to prevent it be used as a diving board
  • Hot coal bins to be installed close to BBQ area
  • Council is considering upgrade lighting along the foreshore area in Bayview Park

  • Dismount bike painting on path
  • Bespoke seats with Aboriginal art commission along foreshore
  • Future accessible footpath leads to existing path network
