Project background

The City of Canada Bay acknowledges the Wangal clan, of the 29 tribes that form the Eora Nation, as the traditional owners of this land. We wish to acknowledge their lands and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Majors Bay Reserve is one of the most important parcels of public open space within our local government area. Its connection with the water, open parklands and sporting grounds makes it unique within the Western Sydney Harbour foreshore.

The City of Canada Bay has invested in providing the local community with cricket ovals, football fields and baseball diamonds. These facilities support over 1,000 active sporting participants each week. Council recognises that supporting organised sport in the community is important, but that further activation of the park is required to meet the community's needs in passive and unstructured recreation as we grow.

We have prepared a future looking Masterplan to provide direction for the improvement of the existing facilities and new facilities in order to make Majors Bay Reserve a highlight of our community.
