The City of Canada Bay is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Community Awards, an annual event celebrating individuals, groups, businesses and organisations that make a positive contribution to the local community.

Nominations open 1 April – 1 May 2026.
The Community Awards are a reimagining of Council’s biennial Sustainability and Business Awards, expanding the program to recognise a broader range of contributions across the community.
Description: Brings people together and strengthens community bonds.
Purpose: Celebrate efforts that increase belonging, participation and social cohesion.
Criteria: Connectedness, volunteer initiatives, partnerships, creative engagement, measurable impact, innovation and sustainable practices.
Eligibility: Businesses, community groups, individuals.
Description: Contributes to physical, mental or social wellbeing.
Purpose: Celebrate care, advocacy and wellbeing support.
Criteria: Positive impact, type of contribution, long-term initiatives, sustainability and community benefit.
Eligibility: Businesses, community groups and individuals.
Description: Environmental stewardship and sustainability leadership.
Purpose: Celebrate environmental improvement, resource efficiency and climate resilience.
Criteria: Impact, innovation, community engagement and long-term change.
Eligibility: Businesses, community groups, individual, strata buildings.
Description: Excellence in heritage conservation, restoration, adaptive re-use, research, and youth engagement.
Purpose: Recognise built and cultural heritage achievements.
Criteria: Heritage integrity, quality of work, conservation practices, innovation, community contribution, engagement and impact.
Eligibility: Individuals, property owners, community members and young people.
Wendy Nolan Perpetual Trophy
Description: Contribution to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Purpose: Celebrate leadership ensuring all individuals can fully participate, including culturally safe and accessible initiatives.
Criteria: Measurable impact, group engagement and sustainability.
Eligibility: Businesses, community groups and individuals.
Description: Recognises sporting groups that deliver community benefit and participation.
Purpose: Celebrate contributions supporting active lifestyles and community engagement.
Criteria: Group impact, leadership, participation and long-term involvement.
Eligibility: Community groups, businesses.
Description: Recognises exceptional volunteer commitment and significant contribution through leadership and service.
Purpose: Honour measurable community benefit achieved through volunteering.
Criteria: Community impact, leadership, reliability, dedication and long-term contribution.
Eligibility: Individuals.
Description: Recognises schools improving learning, wellbeing and community engagement.
Purpose: Celebrate leadership and innovation in education.
Criteria: Student impact, community contribution, innovation, sustained effort, environmental contribution, leadership, engagement and commitment.
Eligibility: Schools, young people.
Milestones: 25, 50, 75, 100+ Years
Description: Recognises local businesses and organisations demonstrating long-term service and commitment to the community and local economy.
Purpose: Acknowledge business longevity, community contribution and ongoing service.
Criteria: Years of operation, community involvement, reputation, customer services and local contribution.
Eligibility: Businesses, community groups.
The City of Canada Bay is a local government area in Sydney.
