Background
Every council in NSW is required to have a Code of Meeting Practice, a set of rules that governs how council and committee meetings are conducted to ensure they are open, accessible, orderly, and efficient.
On 29 August 2025, the Office of Local Government released a new Model Code of Meeting Practice for local councils in NSW. The City of Canada Bay Code of Meeting Practice has been updated to reflect these changes and the updated draft is on public exhibition from 4 December 2025 - 2 February 2026. The Code of Meeting Practice applies to all meetings of Council and Committees of Council where all members are Councillors.
The City of Canada Bay Code of Meeting Practice is prescribed under section 360 of the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021.
